FastWrap from Reno arrived Thursday morning on the 29th to cocoon the Silver Hostel in plastic. It took them about 4 hours working time with 7 people working in a well choreographed process. David Elems is seen here pulling the Silver Hostel around the balloon track past Milward Switch and Political Promise crossing to stage the Hostel for cocooning this fine May 29th morning.
They started by wrapping the middle of the car so the dome would have a form fitting wrap. Then they wrapped the ends. We had a couple of details to iron out but we caught them early on so no time was lost. First detail was keep the couplers open and uncovered. Second was not to use the trucks to secure the wrap. Once that was pointed out and understood things went well.
After it was all wrapped, David Elems pushed the car from the east end lead around the balloon to the RIP track where it currently sits. The wrap crew rode with us while we put the Silver Hostel away and no problems were found. The wrap crew really enjoyed the ride around the museum. I think we got an RAL or two coming from the last move.
